A Christchurch couple tied the knot on a special date today: 12 minutes past 12 on 12/12/12.
There was no room for Natalie Johnson to be late today, in a ceremony she’s sure to never forget.
The bride married long-time fiancĂ© David Cookson in South Canterbury’s Hampton Lea Garden’s this afternoon, in front of a small group of friends.
Her twin daughters, both 12 years old, were bridesmaids and lead the way for the bride as she entered, right on time at 12:12pm.
Natalie says she was attracted to the “symmetry” of the date.
“I just hope we made it at 12:12pm, we were trying really hard,” she says.
The groom, obviously sharing her excitement, couldn’t help but smile as he talked about the nuptials.
“It was the best day ever, I reckon,” he says. “It was just amazing, I loved it”.
The couple were engaged for four years and previously postponed their wedding to emigrate from England to New Zealand.
Natalie says her husband now has no excuse for forgetting their anniversary date.
“Can you imagine if he forgot,” she says.
David says it's "definitely" made the date easier to remember – but he's not making any promises
