New Zealand's arguably greatest cricket batsman Martin Crowe has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. The master-blaster with a highest test score of 299 runs, also captained the New Zealand cricket team long before it became the inanely named 'Black Caps'. He was a longtime team mate of NZ's greatest ever bowler, Richard Hadlee, later to be knighted for services to cricket. The first bowler to score 400 test wickets. His father was also knighted, Sir Walter Hadlee - the captain of the 1949 cricket team. Why wasn't one of the greatest batsman of all time not knighted too? Martin and his elder brother Geoff, also a NZ captain, are first cousins to NZ born Australian actor Russell Crowe
